St Peter’s girls have been offered nine Open Academic scholarships, five Cultural Scholarships (four for Music and one for Drama) and one Sports Scholarships to respected South African high schools. All of these, bar one closed scholarship to St Peter’s College, are open scholarships and accessible to pupils from all schools. We are exceptionally proud of the girls’ achievement. In most cases, these girls wrote a Maths and English scholarship exam and participated in an interview. Many school heads commended the girls on their positive attitude, diligent work ethic and individual charm and manners.
We thank all our girls who uphold the values of St Peter’s every day and contribute in a huge way to our reputation and standing in the school community. Thank you to the exceptional, industrious staff who guide all our girls in their learning and celebrate their various successes with them.
To our scholarship recipients of 2016 - may you enjoy this celebratory time with your family and friends.
We started our third Flexible Learning Programme (FLP) on Tuesday and once again the boys have been fully engaged. Every time we run these programmes we are amazed at the level of thinking and questioning from the boys. Again this week, boys have opted to stay in at break to work on tasks!
A dignified and moving ceremony was held in the school Chapel on Friday, 12 February 2016, to mark the start of Darrel Webb’s career as Headmaster of St Peter’s Girls School.
Bishop Steve Moreo presided over the ceremony as Darrel was ‘installed’ into his rightful place in the Chapel. Bishop Steve blessed the Webb family and asked for God’s guidance and wisdom for Darrel in his role as leader of the school. Present at the service were members of Darrel’s family, Heads from various nearby schools, members of the St Peter’s Council and PA, St Peter’s staff and girls from Grade 3 – 7.
Raw determination lights in the eyes of players, tension radiates as the penalty shot just misses and the crowds roar with untamed excitement as the final basket secures the win. Emotion stings the air and everyone is simply alive with spirit. A hearty, warm welcome to the heart of our St Peter’s College Sports and Cultural Festival!
The Grade 3s and 4s entertained their parents and families, with a presentation of singing, poetry, choreographed movement and a beautiful Art display, on Friday, 31 July. The arrangement was themed ‘Celebration of Family’ and the girls impressed the audience with their renditions of songs and poetry around this subject.
